The Club has an active cruising section and each season there is a programme of cruising weekends and day sails for cruisers and dinghies. Once a year there is the famous 'Commodore's Cruise', a daysail often with a barbeque on Osea Beach. The Cruising Class Captain is Steve Moore and his role is to encourage safe and fun cruising for everyone. However, many other Cruising members take the lead in planning and organising a specific trip. Organised 'Cruising in Company' events and other impromptu 'Who's out this weekend?' queries are discussed and planned on the Cruising section of the Club Message Board (forum) - you need to be logged in as a BSC member to access this - but the best laid plans are of course entirely weather dependant! A number of Cruiser owners regularly do their own thing, and often write about their exploits in our annual yearbook, the BSC News. Favourite destinations are Bradwell, Mersea, Lawling Creek, Southwold, the Stour and the Medway. The more intrepid set sail for Calais or further afield. |
If you are a Cruiser Owner and are considering joining us at the BSC you are most welcome. Please read our guidance for applicants or talk to our Hon. Membership Secretary regarding permitted cruiser size and moorings availability. | Upcoming events
