The Commodore writes:
Waratah set off in the early morning with zero wind and motored to Osea Island and anchored off the pier. We were soon joined by 7 other boats who rafted up all on the one anchor! 4 more boats joined the fleet and bacon butties were enjoyed by all while we watched the start of the barge and smack race. There were about 25 craft in the race and it was quite a spectacle. Several members went for a swim off the back of Waratah.
The wind shortly arrived and we had a pleasant sail down river to Bradwell beach where we anchored up and were taken ashore by Rob and Zoe in the rib who provided a water taxi service. We then enjoyed BBQs and lots of Prosecco under hot sunshine and some of us took the opportunity to cool off in the sea.
Time went quickly and a we all enjoyed a refreshing easterly sea breeze and a run with the tide back to the club to round off a most enjoyable day.
