Please note that, new for 2026, the Reid Scott Junior Race Series (Sat/Sun) will be run as a separate event to the Beastie Tour (Monday 31st August). This event registration just refers to the Beastie Tour. Please register separately for the Reid Scott.

The Beastie Tour is a series of events for youth sailors at RCYC, RHYC, TBYC, Burnham, WOBYC, NBYC, Dabchicks and Blackwater SC.

All entrants need to be at least 8 years old, and less than 19 years old on 31st August 2026. For BSC Sailors you will need to have participated in an MG or Tango group during Cadet Week 2026.

We anticipate that there will be the following classes:

Optimist
RS Tera (both rigs)
Topper (both rigs)
RS Feva XL
ILCA / Laser (all rigs)
General handicap (PY 1202 or under)

Registration and Timings

There is no need to register online for this event; you can turn up on the day. However, if you can pre-register, it will be invaluable as it allows us to buy the correct number of medals! It will also be beneficial to know if you can volunteer. As always, we need adults to help this event run smoothly. We need people to help launch and recover boats, a bridge team, and crews for the safety boats.

Entry fee for visitors: £22 per boat. Payable online in advance or at registration. BSC club members do not need to pay.

Registration will open from 11:00, and there will be a briefing at 12:30 in the lower deck. The first start is scheduled for 13:30.

Supervision Requirements

Visitors under the age of 18, and BSC cadets under the age of 12, need to have a parent on site at all times (volunteering on a rescue boat counts as 'on site').

Camping

Overnight camping is permitted on the BSC site on Sunday evening.

2-Day Laser ILCA Open Meeting & UKLA ILCA GP Event (Sunday only) (26/09/2026)

2-Day Laser Open on the Blackwater estuary hosted by Blackwater Sailing Club.

The Sunday will also be one of the events in the East Region UKLA ILCA GP Series.

The results for those registered for the GP event will be extracted from Sunday's Open results. Prizes for both competitions.

3 races each day, down river from a committee boat
Race start 11:30 Saturday & 11:45 Sunday (for guidance only as official start is on the day from the committee boat)
Separate starts, races & prizes for ILCA 4 (4.7), ILCA 6 (Radial) & ILCA 7 (Full)
Laser replica sails allowed
Camping, bar & galley available on site during the event
Non-members can leave their Laser on site during the event

The briefing will be on the lower deck at the following times:

The End of Seasons is a series of races held over three days. We plan to run two or three races each day, depending on the weather. It is open to Cadets and Junior members: All entrants need to be at least 8 years old, and less than 25 years old on 31st December 2026. All those who wish to enter must be confident river sailors with their own boats (For BSC sailors this means you were in Tango or MG training groups at cadet week, or you raced in the Reid Scott).

420 / General handicap

We hope to provide on the water coaching for less experienced sailors.

We welcome visitors for this event but you must register in advance and there is a nominal charge; please indicate if you are a visitor on the form and you will be invoiced for the cost which you can pay by bank transfer.

MALDON ANNUAL JOINT USERS AND RIVER SAFETY MEETING

TUESDAY, 2 MARCH 2026 – 7.30PM

Maldon Harbour Improvement Commisioners (MHIC) host this event. Everyone interested in safety matters relating to the River Blackwater is invited to attend this open meeting when issues and concerns relating to river safety can be raised and discussed.

The meeting is being hosted by the Blackwater Sailing Club at Basin Rd, Heybridge Basin, CM9 4SD and is jointly organised with the Maldon Harbour Improvement Commissioners. Representatives of Maldon District Council, the River Bailiff, the Essex Police Marine Unit and other agencies will be attending. A full list will follow.

Items for the Agenda should be sent to the Clerk to the Commissioners by 21st February.
