The sailing club runs a Sailing School which is RYA approved. Most courses are limited to club members though prospective members are encouraged to come to our annual Open Day which is usually held in May when they can try a Taster session. The Sailing School is staffed by members who volunteer their time to train other members in all aspects of sailing.
The largest group using the sailing school are the cadets who have three or four training weekends through the season and a cadet week of training and other activities in the summer holidays. For the youngsters progressing into racing we have a race coaching groups during the training events and some coached racing during club races when cadets are coached in racing techniques.
For our members, we can offer 2 hour training sessions or lessons which can cover what you like, but can include familiarisation with your own boat, familiarisation with the river and racing marks, boat handling, spinnaker handling or just gaining confidence. Provision of these sessions is dependant on us finding an instructor who is available and sometimes this is not possible.
The Sailing School Manager is Sarah Bakewell who may be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org
